A good upgrade and buy
Well is it just me or am I sensing false advertising cuz it's not in this game. Customization doesn't have gender and armor choices and hundreds of items and powerups as described. So i'm bummed about that.
In instant action mode there are only two space ships for each class, when in Renegade Squadron there are A wings, Y wings, Clone Wars style x-wings and so on, this game doesn't have those extra vehicles in that mode, in the campagne mode you can choose the clone wars xwing like ships.
So I'm disappointed there and feel lied too about what was featured in the game that made me want it most.
Campagne mode was fun and creative and took a couple hours to complete, I read somewhere that the campagne mode was an expected 30 hours of game play with a new story but it was about 4-6 hours.
Although this game doesn't have the deep customization and more ships and weapons and unlockable stuff I was excited for most, what it has going for it, is the new upgraded interior of the ships, the transfer from ground to space battles in an instant. The new heroes, New maps, the best map in my opinon that was new and added is the Death Star, finally we have the option of battling on or in space with a huge highly detailed view of the death star, that was a great surprise, and I really like in campagne mode as you chooose which planet to play on the view of the outer look of the planets look awesome as you flip through each one. they all appear the same size but each looks totally recognizable with it's own unique features, Bespin has a nice lava orangish look. Hoth looks like a nice blueish icey white, and Coruscant looks like the one big city the planet really is. That you see in movies.
So if you can get past the lack of space vehicles, and lack of customization options that were suppose to be in this game.
Then I think you will enjoy this game very much and if you have a copy of Renegade Squadron and want to play as other space ships you can just play that copy, so that's what I will do, I think of this game as like an add on features you find in console games with downloadable maps and new characters/modes. If you have a PSP Go or a good size memory chip to download both versions of these battlefronts that's even better so your not flopping through UMD discs to play these games.
