Looks terrible. all that lens flare that is JJ's signature - NOT star trek.
Also, the audio is too... well, there's parts where kirk is supposedly talking, and the camera flicks between space, bridge, space, and its not kirk - neither, that tree guy nor shatner...
why oh why can't they just do a second STV: Elite Force game? Oh, and 'ef2' was TNG, so it doesn't count.

looks like a decent shooter. A rent no doubt. Not gonna bitch about it, because if i want star trek , ill just watch the show.
1 Like the character models are absolute rubbish. the set pieces seem to have a lot of action and detail though. but damn...those aliens look like PC graphics from 10 years ago.
This game has been getting some pretty good early reviews from users. Color me impressed! Gonna pick it up on payday
1 Like Try watching it in 720p dumbasses. The graphics are fine, they look good. The faces look identical to their real life counterparts, what more could you want graphically? I'm surprised I don't hear bitching and crying for how shitty graphics are on games like Borelands 2. smh
@devastator1991 Pine doesn't sound like Pine, Quinto doesn't either, and it was more like hearing a fan do the cliched line that was thrown in by a guy who's only knowledge of star trek is the cliches as known by non-trekkies.
and the faces are a little cartoony. in fact the color palette seems that way.
is it me or do the character models look shockingly rubbish, graphics look start of this gen no way near what ps3/360 are capable of now, and seriously those faces just don't work, i don't care if it resembles the cast of the movie, it looks horrid, and when did star trek become all about third person shooting, star trek should be at the forefront an exploration game and an adventure than an action third person shooter. i can think of so many idea's and ways to play which would be far better than this rubbish, how about a fully working and mapped out enterprise, how about being able to go to every planet, proper communications between any ships, star trek would work great as an rpg type game, without so much action.
When I was about 5 years old (I'm old) I saw the original Star Trek episode where Kirk fought this dinasaur looking guy on a planet. It freaked me out. If you watch it now it's very cheesy. But my other tv watching was Sesame Street.
Anyway, this kinda looks like that episode.
Looks like a B rate Mass Effect, even has the crucible, which apparently is now called the Helios machine. I'll give it a shot Digital Extremes usually makes decent games.
@Vitex2003 I'd say the Reapers sounds a lot like the Borg from star trek and maybe the Daleks from Doctor who. The Citadel from ME3 also sounds like a grandiose version of Deep Space Nine or Babylon 5. Could argue the Krogans from ME are fatter versions of the Klingons or that warrior race from Farscape. Mass Effect isn't the template for all all modern day syfy, but a product. But i guess if we're talking about game-play, different argument can made cause i think all the Star Trek games have pretty much failed, and ME is the new standard for open world space games like SWTOR.
1 Like If there's one thing I took away from this it's that people will still use wingsuits in the future. Wich means no jetpacks yet. Which means i give up on life.
Looks like someone pieced this together on their home PC instead of a studio's work, seriously it looks 10 years old and the gameplay doesnt look all that interesting. Never had high hopes for this but even im disappointed at the lack of effort. Waste of development time and everyones money IMO

i hope this drops in price fast.because i would love to pick this game up on the low.I can't pay 60 bucks for a game with these level of graphics this late in a generation movie game or not.
2 Like I am starting to feel a bit exploited as a Star Trek fan. I grew up watching TNG, Voyager, and bit of Enterprise and I am a big Star Trek fan. TNG and Voyager were so much more than a generic space opera; it could present contemporary as well as philosophical issues.
And now it just feels like lowest common denominator drivel. Like they expect people to pay for whatever they crap out just because the Star Trek name is used.

@LogicSavanT Is that why they're calling the new movie "Into Darkness"? Always thought there was some sort of subliminal message in that title.
this is the kind of game that could be great if done in a similar style as Mass effect or Star Wars: Kotor.
I just hope that, if there are space(ship) battles, that you get to play from the bridge's view and issue orders from there, instead of having an outside view strategy gameplay...

I'm actually going through TOS now; almost done with the first season. Honestly, as a huge fan of Star Trek, and even liking the newer films even though they're different, I think, if the visuals looked a little better, I would certainly want this. Right now, my feelings on this are conflicting. The reason why I say visuals is because often times, if the visuals aren't great for a licensed game, then it's most likely going to fail in many other important ways too; I don't say that because visuals are number one priority.
I would want this to see where the story goes and how it may bridge the gap between the first film and Into Darkness, and just to experience the Star Trek universe in this kind of game. I also thought the gameplay looked OK: taking many aspects from other games and putting it into this; there's variety at least. The voice acting and dialogue, as well as music was pretty good too. My fandom, as someone else has said before, for them, will be my downfall... Maybe. Star Trek is one of those series' that I just can't get enough of if it's in canon.
I love the universe that has been created, and I like the characters as well.
The cut scenes look like they were ripped from a movie..... Very sad that's all the good I can say about this game. Aside from an article in GI, I haven't really seen or heard anything.
