Star Trek The Video Game User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Ambitious"
In general it's an ambitious addition to the Star Trek series trying to cover the whole experience following the movie wholeheartedly, from the cover based ground battle to the space battle - which appeared only to promote the new "original Enterprise" trademark of hails of laser fires and torpedoes.
The gliding missions are fun surprises and highly enjoyable compared to the rocket powered space flight which tend to be vague in the collision detection.
It would only score a 5.0 had the game did not so faithfully stay within the Star Trek universe's convention, the graphic, and the soundtracks which rightfully deserved a solid 2 point extra. The voice overs are also topnotch with great dialogues and lines as if taken straight from the movie it tries to portray. There is not even a slight hint of the involvement of a Japan company in the game, which would usually brings cheesy dialogues.

Too much ground battles and too little space battle, probably because the space portion is even less well thought..

Another movie franchise game that falls short in pacing, story, and originality.

Once you see past the few annoying bugs , it's actually not that bad.
