Looks like it could get frustrating and boring after a while, I could be wrong though. @gijas "take all what?" Shield batteries obviously, don't see why they would need batteries for the shields in such a high tech universe.

Borg have beams that down your shields, as if they were nothing.

I wonder if there are any weapons that can penetrate shields in the Star Trek universe. Considering that some ships may have very thick shields, it would be wise for navies to develop arms that can pierce shields to damage the hull directly.
