Star Trek worth a Look? Yep, this one is a diamond in the rough.

There's a great expanse of Strategy games, then and now, that may over encompass this Star Trek one. After all, have you ever heard of a Star Trek game that was any good?

Well in reality there are a few Star Trek games that were more than good, but downright great. This one in particular stands out for it's amazing visuals, special powers, and a fair story with interesting bridge cutscenes. All in all you've seen better ones out there, but this one is definitely worth a look.

As always I'll get out all the bad stuff first. Well the worst part is that the Bridge cutscenes don't look all that tantalizing. You're supposed to be looking through the captains eyes, but the room is static and rather boring, and not impressive compared to the other visuals of the era.

Also, out of the five campaigns, the Federation's campaign is less than interesting compared to the others. Basically it consists of four tutorial missions, and you don't get to play as another Federation ship until the very end! Don't get me wrong, the other campaigns (as short as each one is,) are fun, but I believe that the Federation was poorly represented in here.

Now for the good. Well to start out everything about playing a level feels great and looks great. The nubula's are more than just background scenery, and play a major tactical role in everything you do, the ships are smart and control beautifully, and you really get the feeling that you're at the head of your races Armada, which makes you feel satisfied every time you defend and counter attack against waves of enemy AI which can range from dumb to advanced according to the difficulty. Even still, it's a fairly easy game, just get the most advanced ships, never forget to have something building back at base, and fortify your position every time you take land, and you'll be alright in this fun, but sometimes flawed Strategic Star Trek Game.
