Star Ocean Second Evol..? nah... Star Ocean Second Remake.
The Good:
Its a long story with several different locations and not a lot of back tracking. You will find yourself moving along the story and traversing around the different continents without severe scouting around the land.
The Voice acting has its pros and cons... however, i am impressed by the fact that there is tons of voice acting in this game. Though the acting part isn't quite there, the voiced segments of the game is still welcomed.
The game mechanics are the same as the first star ocean and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Star Ocean Second Evolution took what was good and did not change it, a smart move in my opinion.
Animated cut scenes! who doesn't love those?
The Bad:
Its just a remake. The graphics doesn't make you go OMFG! though it is better compared to First Departure and the original PS version. The gameplay is the same, the story is the same with some addition of dungeons and enemies.
Verdict:
There is really no new revolutionary Remake-Added-Content to warrant a purchase if you already own the original PS version, unless you really love this game to bits. On the other hand, the PSP is dying, and though this won't make you run out to grab a PSP, current owners looking for a long satisfying JRPG adventure that is worth your money, Star Ocean Second Evolution is a great title to enjoy. If you want to compare, it is better game than First Departure (graphically, story design, Voicing).

I must say... Square Enix is improving on their "remakes" skills. They should put their efforts into FFXIII... 2010...seriously?... -.-
