Star Fox Assualt is, without a doubt, the weakest in the series. Now that we have that out of the way, that doesn't mean Aussualt is bad, or even just average. Its a good game, through and through. If it was just arwing missions, it would have been great but sadly, that is not the case. However, there are 4 missions of only being in an arwing. Also, 5 other mission lets you pilot an arwing, but also have the dreaded ground combat. Playing with fox on his feet, despite what people say, is not that bad. The REAL pain is dealing with the Landmaster, which unlike starfox 64 isn't on its rail system, but is free moving, and a pain in the butt.

The Arwing missions are clearly the best part of the game. Its basically the same gameplay from starfox 64, just looking better, with more enemies, and just as much if not more fun. Slogging through the stupid landmaster parts are worth it just to come to these parts.

The story of star fox was never pulitizer prize winning, and that hasn't changed here. The lovable but cheesy and stupid pilot chatter is back, complete with slippy being a loser, falco a jerk, and crystal from starfox adventures being somehow a annoying tomboy and nerve grating damsel in distress at the same time.

Overall, if your looking for solid gamecube titles, this one is definitley worth a look, provided you know what you are getting into.
