Certain games change the way of gaming, others are just plain. This game feels like both of these good qualities.

Star Fox 64 is a spaceship shooter. You play as Fox McCloud, son of James McCloud. Your father was killed by the evil Andross and you have been assigned to eliminate Andross. You, as leader of the Star Fox team will be partnered with your other three wingmen. Falco, Peppy, and Slippy, these guys can help you out with tips, and can put up a fight in combat against the enemy. You will battle against Andross's forces and the the evil Star Wolf and his team of wingmen. The game is very fast, enemies are always attacking you and your wingmen on all sides. They are always trying to stop you in every way possible. The game allows you to make your own route to the final stage by the ability of choosing which area you would like to go. You'll start off at Corneria, and then it branches off from there on out. What you do in each area decides where you go. You may have to destroy a certain number of enemies, activate a warp, or keep your wingmen alive. Whatever it may be, this game gives you plenty of routes to choose from. Every planet is different. From the underwater world of Aquas, to the flaming inferno lava land of Solar, or to the mysterious Sector X, the planets will always send something new your way. Most of the time you will be in your Arwing, but on other planets, you might have to use the Landmaster (a tank), or use the Blue Marine (a sub, you only use this on one mission on a specific planet, Aquas). The game also has two endings, a good ending and a bad ending. And one of the toughest challenges to beat is acquiring the medals on each planet. In order to get them, you had to destroy a certain number of enemies. When you did, the counter that showed how many enemies you destroyed would turn red and that meant that you had reach the target number or surpassed it. When you got a medal on every planet, you unlocked the sound test and Expert mode. Expert mode had more enemies and Fox wore a pair of sunglasses that made him look almost like his father. If you got a medal on all the planets in Expert mode, you were able to play on foot in multiplayer. Multiplayer mode was good, as you got more medals, you unlocked the Landmaster and battling on foot. The multiplayer allowed you picked from two courses, Corneria and Sector Z (Katina could count as three, but it was only available in Time Trial mode). This game was fun, unique, and made Fox another one of Nintendo's favorite characters. I still enjoy playing this game to this day. It is just plain fun.
