Star Fox 64 is a wonderful on rails shooter and is still very fun today.
The story starts รก la Star Wars: text will scroll down the screen with a picture. They story is simple: the evil scientist Andross was banished to the planet Venom. Now, years later, him and his band of monkey people are attacking the Lylat system. Star Fox is hired by General Pepper to stop Andross.
Now, let's start with the game play. Star Fox plays like an on rails shooter. You control Fox's ship from a first or third player's perspective. You can shoot, charge up shots, use bombs, barrel roll, somersault, and U-turn.
There are two types of stages: regular on rails shooting stages, and all-range mode stages where you fly around and fight bosses.
The graphics in this game look great for an N64 game. The polygons are all smooth and the lighting is great.
The story in this game is memorable. The four characters on your team, Fox, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy, all communicate between one another. Enemies like Wolf, and some bosses will talk to you. Some memorable lines are Peppy's "Do a barrel roll!", Slippy's "Oh no!"
This game also has tons of replay value. There is an easy mode, hard mode, medal mode, and expert mode. The easy mode is first, and once you beat it, you can try and find the shortcuts that'll take you to hard mode, with all new planets.
There is hardly anything to complain about the game, but it is annoying that the game doesn't save your progress; it only saves like an SNES game. And also, in all-range mode, your teammates rely on you way too often to save them from enemies.
But, overall, Star Fox 64 is a super fun on rails shooter that will give you hours and hours of replay value.
