Terrible. A great series now stripped down to a cell-phone-game level of simplicity with down-right faulty controls.

It's amazing that this game managed to get released. This is the only game I've ever played that I would describe as faulty at a programming level: the controls literally don't work. Sure, you can just about ride down the hill steering vaguely down the piste, but try to pull off any particular trick and you will find your character strangely still in the air, even though you are yourself frantically flicking the wiimote all over the place.
I failed to ever achieve a simple 360 spin, it just never happened. I did find, however, that if you waggle the wiimote randomly you will find your boarder doing all kinds of crazy impossible flips etc., though what tricks you do and how you do them remain a mystery.
I don't think I ever pulled off the simplest of tricks that I actually wanted to do, in fact TRYING to do tricks means you character does nothing, where as NOT trying any trick some how makes your boarder trick. Very strange, and very frustrating.

This is a massive disappointment when considering the potential of motion sensitive controls in a snow sport game. It could have been amazing, yet it was painful and frustrating.

Outside of the disaster that is the control scheme, the game in general seems to be a step backwards from the previous game SSX On Tour. The graphics are worse and more simplified (though some may prefere the cartoonyness), the game options are more limited, the menus are lacking the finesse of 'On Tour', and there are hardly any game modes.

You don't even have the option to board 'goofy' foot. There aren't the real board and ski brands that there were in 'On Tour', and there seem to be very limited upgrades etc.

I loved the previous games, especially 'On tour', but I ended up taking this game back the same day I bought it. I tried and tried to get into it, and to figure out the controls, but I couldn't as there is nothing to figure out, it's just a lame, rushed, cash-in game.

If you're thinking about getting this game, don't. You're better off going and getting one of the older versions for the gamecube and playing that, they're much, much better.
