Conquer the mountain in this speedy and fun snowboard game.

User Rating: 9 | SSX 3 GC
1 mountain, 3 peaks, 26 events and lots of fun, that's what you can be looking forward to in SSX3. While listening to EA Radio Big giving you some quality soundtracks (if you like bands like Queens of the Stone Age, N.E.R.D. and Felix the house cats), you can choose between race, freestyle or freeriding searching for collectibles or taking the Big Challenges. The atmosphere of the big mountain will soon seem familiar and you might like to hear DJ Atomica giving you local news about Powder Pete and the ski patrollers.

What really makes SSX3 great is the course design. From the insanely dangerous conditions on Gravitude, which makes the DJ say: "This is not just going to be an event, this is going to be a fight", to the urban course named Metro City, which is packed with short-cuts and rails. Some courses are far more vertical than horizontal and has jumps so big you might stay in the air for almost ten seconds. Some times I really feel like it is me against the mountain out there, and it is a good sign that I feel like I'm in the game, not just playing from outside. The short-cuts and rails really make it fast.

The game is of course fun multiplayer, but it takes singleplayer gamers seriously to, with the mode called "conquer the mountain." Here you get money and gears for winning events. You also get money taking the challenges. The challenges can be really stupid. Why would you want to ride to the end of the course with an air time under 8 seconds? But some are better. I particularly like slalom. I wish it was more of it than just 3 challenges throughout the game, because it is some of the most challenging about the game. It requires good speed and good handling.

What do you do with the money? First of all, buy attributes for your character. Second, buying gears. It is fun to dress up your character. Some gears are normal clothes, but some are more crazy, like giving Moby a ware wolf face or giving Elise angel wings. If you want, you can even dress up Elise in a bikini and with bunny airs.

The events aren't very hard if your goal is to win it all. The races you might win on first attempt and hardly even see your opponents after the start. The freestyle has a little longer learning curve, but all over it is easy. However if you try to get platina medal in the events, it gets harder. To get platina medal in a race, you will have to make tricks in order to fill your uber meter and get unlimited boost for one minute. You must also find and learn how to take all the short-cuts. Some of the challenges can also be a challenge.

Why should you buy this game? Well, first of all because of the replay value. It feels so good to sail through the air doing awesome tricks or speed through the alleys of Metro City. Of all the games have played, it is the game that I have played most. I think have played a total of more than 200 hours of the game. I don't know if it is the atmosphere of the game or the gameplay that brings me back to play it, but both are great, so I encourage everyone that likes fun to try what is possibly the best sports game ever made.
