A good Spyro game, but thats not really saying much...
Graphics: 7/10
The graphics on this game are alright and as far as some games go are pretty good. Spyro looks pretty cool and purple is for sure his color. Spyrax could have been a little bigger though. The levels look quite nice and the enemies also look good.
Sound: 6/10
The sound on the levels for this game is a bit average There is a wide variety of music and suits the environment. All the other sounds such as fairies being freed from their icy cage or Spyrax moving and shooting could have been improved as well.
Controls & Gameplay: 7/10
The controls on this game are quite good and reasonably easy to adapt to. There are lots of attacks and moves to use though with very few buttons. There are a few more complicated moves and attacks though. The controls for Spyrax are not too complicated though if you are new to the game will take a little getting used to.
Replay Value: 5/10
After you have finished the game with the 100 fairies there is barely anything to do in the game. The only things left to do is to try to beat your high score on Dragonfly X or to try to get all the gems in the game. Or you may just want to go back and play through the whole game again.
Challenge: 7/10
There is a reasonable amount of challenge in this game. When you first play it you will find it will start off quite easy but once you get close to the end it get very hard. The speedways are probably the most challenging part in this game and will take some practice to win.
Rent or Buy?
This game you should rent before you buy. It is a good game and many have enjoyed it. Although many haven't. So I would suggest to rent it and then if you enjoy it. Go ahead and buy it.

Now don't get me wrong this is a good game and the next Spyro game will probably be a little better and many people will probably get it. There is a lot of fun and quite a lot to accomplish in this game but once you have beaten it that is basically it and you will probably lose interest.
