Oh Spyro, what happened to you?

In September 1998, the very first Spyro game was released. And in my opinion, that was the first great platformer available for the PlayStation (1). An then Sept. 1999, number 2 was released, and then in October 2000, number 3. All three of these games were probably the most enjoyable games I have ever played back in that era. And then, sometime in the Spring of 2002, Universal Interactive announced that a new Spyro game was coming for the PS2 & GameCube at the end of the year. On December 25th, 2002, I got my hands on "Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly" for the GameCube. I knew I was gonna have fun with this game...at least that's what I thought.
The first major problem with this game is that it lags, way too much. For example, whenever Spyro dies and returns to the last place where he got zapped from Zoe, if an enemy is near Zoe, while the screen is loading (when it's black) the enemy will attack you, when you can't even fight back because the screen is loading and it's black! So when you come back alive, the enemy hits you again... and you die! Another problem is that sometimes when your gliding, and when your at the edge of the cliff, or edge of a platform where your gonna land, sometimes the game freezes! (Yes, I bought a brand new copy)
My second reason why this game was so bad, is because it was so ridiculously difficult. Because the game is so glitchy, Spyro kind of goes slow, which means your enemies can take advantage of you. And to activate some portals, they want a lot of FireFly's to open the portals. When you start the game for the first time, one portal requires 25 FireFly's. Really? 25? 25 FireFly's at the start of the game?! That's crazy. I mean this game is made for like 8 - 12 year old's. There's no way any kid that age can do that in a short time.
My final complaint about this horrendous excuse of a game is that Ripto is back. Nobody liked Ripto when he debuted in September 1999. So why on earth would you want to bring him back?
Gamespot got it right, "Even the biggest fans of Spyro is going to have a tough time enjoying this game." Just stick with the first three for the PlayStaion 1, or the Game Boy Advance.
