Sooooo disappointing!

When I heard there was going to be a new Spongebob game, I almost went through the roof. I was pleasantly surprised by the last two games. Normally TV-based games are just quick knock-offs, made only to get your money before you hear the bad reviews. However, Battle for Bikini Bottom and The Spongebob Squarepants Movie were both very enjoyable platformers.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about Kreature from the Krusty Krab. It's awful beyond belief. Unlike the previous games, which were about as open-ended as a platformer could get, this game is extremely linear. This would probably not be a huge problem in and of itself if it weren't for the fact that the game feels the need to tell you the solution to EVERY part before you even try it. Need to hop up on top of three crates to find something? There will be a cut-scene showing you the three crates, just to make sure your five year old doesn't have to figure it out herself. It turns out there is a cut-scene for EVERYTHING in this game. There is literally a cut-scene about every 30 seconds. When you have to kill 5 groups of monsters, there is a a cut-scene of one group running at you. Then when you've killed them in 10 seconds, there will be the exact same cut-scene of another group of monsters coming at you. This will happen 5 times in a row. When you end up having 5 cut-scenes in one minute, it is unbelievably annoying. You can't jump around for more than 30 seconds without the gameplay stopping to show you a stupid cut-scene. This isn't a game, it's a resume for some computer animator.

Another thing that sticks out is the "jokes" in the game. I normally find Spongebob funny, but every bit of audio in this game sucks. As with the cut scenes, the same annoying quote is played ad nauseum.

I played all the way through the movie game, and 90% of the way through Battle for Bikini Bottom. I stopped playing this game after an hour. I have no idea what they were trying to do with this title.

Score--2 out of 10. The art in the game is pretty good, otherwise it would get a 1.
