I remember when I got Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom on my Xbox way back in 2003. I was in 1st grade and I loved this game. It took me FOREVER to beat it. It took every ounce of sweat, blood, and tears (a little dramatic, but you get the point). I lived for this game. I wanted every golden spatula. All I did on some weekends for many years was grind my golden spatula count higher and higher. I did beat the game eventually, but I never got every golden spatula.
When I first heard they were remaking this game, only one thing came to my mind. My destiny must be fulfilled. I got a PS4 last summer and I knew I had to platinum this game to redeem my younger self. I wasn't going to get this game at first, but I ended up getting it during the first week of it's release...and got the platinum trophy in 48 hours.
This game was a blast to go back in time and replay this game that was a big part of my childhood. But that's about all. To be able to beat it in 2 days kinda sucked. I wasted many hours as a child trying to beat this game. And the fact that I dropped $30 on it hurts. I know I will never touch the game again. The new graphics are nice, but there's no more value to this game other than just another replay. I didn't even bother with multiplayer mode. Didn't look like it was anything good.
This game is great for a burst of nostalgia, but not much else.
Pros: Brings back great gaming memories from my childhood, good graphics, easy game to platinum on PS4
Cons: Quick play through, no value after that, $30 is steep
Score: 6/10
