This is a quite fun game, but it could have been better indeed. A little more expanded upon, some more options and some more depth indeed. Pure is also such an arcade-racer, but it has superior options, although it doesn't have as exciting tracks.

Over the last few months ive played through Burnout Paradise, NFS Hot Pursuit and Blur, is this as good as any of them?
@sunshineisles2 You would think so, but if you enjoyed the demo then you'll like this game. There's enough variety here to keep you interested. Best racing game I've played in a long time.
He made a point.It wasn't deep,but it was a literal blast.HoY4 put it pretty nicely,because that's exactly what I did.Seems to me like now that the formula is out there,a Split Second 2 with less predictable power plays and deeper gameplay could definitely be a hit.
just like the 007 blood stone driving sequences ..... fast-paced, exciting, explosive, and imaginative!!
is a good game, its all an adrenaline rush, original and you can continue playing it once in a while when you finish it because its a lot of fun and this game have the most competitive online multiplayer I ever played.
Good as long as its last. Pure arcade fun, but once the novelty of powerplay weans out there's little to stick around. Not the kind of game which I am not going to revisit in future.
Gliave, this game is meant to be arcade straight fun. It takes more skill to play Blur yes but thats the thing. This game is just for that, playing with friends and going "WHOAHH!!!" "HOLEEEEEEYYY!" its like your comparing Halo to Time Crisis, you cant just say Time Crisis is trash. I just tried this game for almost an hour and had a blast, its nice to play a game these days and not really have to think or plan things much. Im picking this game up later today after I get off work =)
Okay fine, let's say it's fun: If you compare it to Blur, it's trash tho....Think about it, u get one button, that goes boom...aAnd other cars drop..? Blur takes skill, and has so many features to offer, if u route for this more, then it's probably coz u're into noob-hold-the-gas-down car games. This is WAY slower than Blur (hence why it's called Blur), and the fan system in Blur alone, puts all the other car games in the dust bin. Blur simply keeps you goin all the way, with somethin new to offer every couple of seconds u're on the track. This one...well....It's made by Disney pplz. Of course it'll be too main stream to be anywhere close to an actual car game. If u're not playin Blur, u're really depriving urself, as much as the Jonas brothers are if not more.
Beautiful game. I usually take the ratings on this site seriously, but when Kevin Vanord reviews a game I usually take his bad ratings as a sign its a great game. In this case, play the demo and determine it for yourself. I played the demo at least 30 times before going out and buying the game. I'm a huge car game fan, from Need for Speed to Forza. This game has literally taken what all these games have done to the next level. I felt like I was playing Burnout mixed with the excellent controls in NFS Shift. I hope this becomes a new genre of racing.
Cant decide if i like blur best or split second. i have played this more, if i was pushed i would definatly pick this game first. it great. sometimes thou the sliding drifting type handling can get a bit over the top. when i wanted grip sometimes i could only slide. you really have to play with the accelerater to get the car under control. this could be better. but noway does it put you off.
it looks and sounds great, but as kevin said it will take only one weekend till it utilizes itself to the fullest
I like "Split/Second" because it really lives up to its name! When I was losing, I triggered a Power Play, which somehow took out ALL the racers ahead of me, allowing me to coat past the competition and win...all during the last few seconds of the final lap at the finish line!
why do the developers do it ?? isnt it obvious by now multiplayer and online play is huge!! and they want 40 quid for it !!??? its lame....
This game is awesome. Races can be decided even in the last second. It's the first racing game since Burnout Paradise that really holds my attention. I keep coming back.

The game is ok, its just as he described. It seems to have the same story as Death Race (movie). I mean the exact same setup except it doesnt involve someone driving the car whos been in jail.
This game is exactly how he described it. It's great fun for a weekend, then back on the shelf it goes. Either rent this, or buy a different arcade racer, but it honestly isn't worth the money to actually buy this game.
@imperial_figure i can elaborate more what you are trying to say. split second = burnout series & ridge racer. Blur = NFS series and strategy like.... emmm likeeeeeeeeee bomber man (destroy ur opponent) ;-)
Demo is pretty good though I wish it offered at least two tracks to try out. Going to rent it today and see how it truly plays.
Yeah i got the game :D, for people that have no idea if they would buy blur or split second, blur is so much different compared to split second. Blur is more a strategy racer (combine mario kart, NFS and COD options with each other) and split second is a timed racer (combine burnout with stuntman).
the game-play looks a little bit stiff, and also the demo felt stiff but KevinVanOrd even has a smile on his face in this review so i'm just gonna buy the game right now :P.
@xlxhalo2: These guys are just playing the game and reviewing it, sure if they played the game a little bit longer you would see an increase in skill but ultimately you would be disappointed to see that your reviews don't come out on time. I had a feeling they were going to say this about Split Second, I can't believe anyone would think that making a game with one gameplay mechanic would become highly successful.
I hope they make Split Second 2 and make it look and act a lot better than this... Improvements, people! :P Sorry.:)
@PS3gamer890 Did you just say GameSpot knows what there talking about? ahahahhahahah. BS. There reviewers obviously have no skill in video games. Every time i see them playing the game there reviewing, it seems like a 4 year old is playing the video game. They need to get better reviewers or i have lost faith in this website for reviews.
Got the game today, and it's really awesome. I dunno how long it will last, but for now it's superb and i didn't even try the multiplayer yet.
