Splatterhouse is not as horrible as some will say. When I bought it the dude at gamestop was trying to make me not buy the game and mentioning other games at the time like pre-order "Dead Space 2 or Mass Effect 2 instead." I was interested in those sequels, but I was there to buy Splatterhouse since I'm a fan of the old games...so I bought it.
As a fan, the game met my expectations. It wasn't the perfect game ever (or game of the year), but it was what I expected out of a next-gen Splatterhouse game. Action is done well for the main character, Rick. Level design is hit or miss...usually good. Enemies are great, but can get repetitive (but what game doesn't get repetitive?...please tell me). Some of the boss battles are actually pretty awesome too. Splatter effects are awesome. On top of that, all 3 of the old games are un-lockable to play around with. The difficulty of the game can be frustrating at times, however that is just normal with a Splatterhouse game. Splatterhouse wasn't meant to be an easy walk through.
If you are a Splatterhouse fan, a splatter flick fan, horror fan, or just simply enjoy action games with excessive bloody brutality....I suggest you give this a try. It is really not that bad.

Good parts shine through, but the majority is summed up with terrible everything.

Splatterhouse is a poor remake of a classic arcade/Genesis game with some seriously major flaws.
