What can spiderman do?
Gone are the horrid, rushed movie tie in games. Instead we get this great action title that us more based on the comics than anything else.
Everything about this game is nicely polished, especially the controls and fighting system, that lets you beat the crap out of all the usual bad guys in such a spidey way. Being able to recreate spideys moves is an absolute joy and I can't give it enough praise. You have access to the symbiote suit from the beggining and can combine extensive combos with the red and black suit all at the same time. Your decisions will take you down one path or the other, good or evil and it will also decide who will help you in battle when called for.
Yes, you heard correct, at any moment you can request help from any of the other super heroes or villains that you meet along the way, which are quite a few.
The story is basically that Venom is infecting New York and it's citizens with the symbiote and it's spidey's job to help counter this. The line between freind and foe is stretched to the limits as the game comes to it's exciting climax.
Judging by what decisions you make during the game, the endings are different, which adds loads of replay value, making it well worth a purchase, especially as now you can normally find it at a much reduced price.
Graphically it is very good, with nice textures and a true this-gen shine, although the character models are not at the same level unfortunately, marring what could have been a really excelent graphical display. The animations are top notch though, especially old spidey.
The music seems borrowed from the movies, which isn't necesarily a bad thing and the voice acting is good most of the time, although spidey is slightly whiney, he does grow on you.
A great game that everyone should play, especially if you love your freindly neighborhood spiderman!
