A pretty cool game. Just a little dooming.

Well, this game is great. It's amazing. In my opinion, this game is nearly perfect except for what I'm about to go into. Other than the bad things I say in this review, it's good.

Good:
Combat feels great, fluid, and Spidey like
Lots of Super heroes/villains
Nice mission variety
Different suits feel different
Pretty cool bosss fights

Now the bad:

Well first off, the voice acting is a pretty good. I just have problems with Spidey and Venom themselves. Not good. Spidey sounds very whimpy and whiny. And he doesn't crack as much jokes as he should, not even in the early parts of the game where he doesn't have the symbiote (or when he just gets it). And Venom's voice just sounds so... FORCED. It doesn't sound evil, scary, or natural. But MJ, Black Cat, Luke Cage, they're all good. But Black Widow was a little mean, but let's ignore that.

The story itself. It's very UNoriginal. A little kid could have come up with it. Gang war, symbiote army. Okay. But it works... Barely... It is VERY dooming however. That is something I'm not used to in a Spidey thing.

The choices you make in this game don't affect anything. The only things changed by certain choices are that near the end, Wolverine will no longer help you (and if he does... hmph) and the ending will change depending on the Black Cat/MJ choice.

Also, the support characters don't even play a large role. For example, why is Wolvie in New York? To be a boss later, that's why. He's not even that helpful when he's on your side. What is even more puzzling is that while these assist characters help fight and pick off weak enemies, you can't summon them in boss fights.

And the Rhino? He's useless. I'd rather have MJ with a shotgun.

But yeah, it's great. You won't notice the voice acting much, the story works, the support heroes/villains are optional, and the choices are bearable. What does bother me is the dooming storyline, with the red sky, and what not. After the symbiotes invade, you feel like the city is dead, like it's supposed to. But it's much more fun swinging through an ALIVE city. And the environments do get plain after a while. But it's all good. Go and get this game. Now.
