User Rating: 8 | Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage SNES
I remember first coming across this game over at my cousin's house as a kid, it was probably in the year 1999. He was playing the game because he knew I liked watching the '90s Spider-Man Animated Series. We were playing the game for a little while on the Sega Genesis, which was the version he had. So after we played it a little while, I asked him if I could borrow the game so that I could play it over at my house, and he allowed me to. The only reason I remember myself borrowing the game from him, was because my mom had taken a picture of me playing it. I would later buy the game for myself 10 years later in 2009, just last year!

Story: 10/10
- The storyline is excellent! The game took the exact storyline from the comic-book with the same name as this game! I do not read comic-books though. The insane Cletus Kasady is jailed at Ravencroft Asylum for going on a killing spree after being bonded with an alien symbiote, which made him known as "Carnage" throughout New York City. However, his visit was short-lived as he revealed that the alien had mutated his blood, and he could generate a copy of the symbiote. Kasady escaped, freeing other superhuman inmates and assembling a "family" of killers around him. They set their sights on New York City. During the murderous ambush that followed, Carnage recruited Shriek, Doppelganger, Demogoblin, and Carrion to do his bidding, terrorizing New York City with their twisted "family values." Due to the laws of increase, Spider-Man and Venom were forced to join together to stop Carnage and his followers. They required the assistance of such contrasting heroes as Captain America, Black Cat, Night watch, Cloak and Dagger, Iron Fist, Deathlok, Morbius and Firestar, although there was a great deal of conflict within this group, both sides polarized between Venom's desire to stop Carnage for good and Spider-Man's refusal to allow any more life to be lost.

Gameplay: 7/10
- The gameplay is all right but, it is not 2 Players and the game is so darn hard! In this single-player side-scrolling beat 'em up game (with a format similar to Final Fight and Streets of Rage) the player controls Spider-Man (but in some levels have the option to play as Venom) through various levels in an effort to stop the super villain Carnage and his gang, as well as hundreds of criminals they inspired in their wake, from taking over the city. Spider-Man's wall-crawling plays an important part in the game. It can be used to find secret items, temporarily escape from difficult enemies and is even the basis for the second level. The other Marvel heroes can be summoned by collecting appropriate items hidden within certain levels. Their effects vary greatly, and some of them have different effects depending on who the player is. Of note is the rarity and set locations of the power-ups necessary to summon aid, and that each character has a unique set of music to accompany their appearance.

Graphics: 8/10
- The graphics are pretty good. It could have been a lot better, though.

Sound: 9/10
- The sound effects of the game are nice. The music is great! I know that the music was done by some type of rock band!

Overall, I give this game an 8 out of 10. I would have rated the game a lot higher if the game had 2 Players! Our Maker knows the game needed it since the game is extremely hard and stressful! I mean, the henchmen are so darn fast at attacking you, that it does not make any sense! The bosses are 10 times as worst as the regular henchmen! So do not get me started on them! I have not even beaten the game yet, and I am not going to try any longer! I almost forgot, another reason why I did not rate the game higher is because of the cheat codes, they were a lie! The cheat codes were "more lives" and "more continues", but the game would not even allow that! Believe me, I know those cheat codes were false because I tried it like 20 times! Anyway, the game had a lot of potential to be the greatest Spider-Man game on the Super Nintendo, but the creators made some really bad mistakes.
