Despite its solid controls, Spider-Man 3 is a sloppily-made, boring game on the PS2.

This will probably be my shortest review ever. I don't really have much to say that tons of other reviewers haven't already stated before, so I'll just sum it up quickly.
This is a mediocre game at best, and yet another crappy movie tie-in. While the controls are great, and the game isn't broken by any means, it definitely isn't polished, or fun for that matter.

The story barely even follows the film, and there are tons of random supervillains thrown into the mix that are barely even relevant to the main story. It also features an awful script, awful voice acting, etc.
The gameplay sucks, too. The combat is slow, weak, and looks boring. The enemies do come in multiple types, and you constantly face new ones, but they are all extremely dumb, slow, and weak; they're boring pushovers. Wearing the alien "Black Suit" makes you extremely powerful, but it lasts for a VERY short time, and you have to wait a long time before you can use it again. Web-swinging is as awesome as ever, but it's the web-swinging mechanic that's already been used in Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man (which are FAR superior games). There are only a few types of side-missions, and they're extremely simple & easy; as a result, they become old VERY quickly. Some of them are also nonsensical; why would Spider-Man deliver pies? Taking pictures for the Daily Bugle is kinda fun, though. If you want, you can try to take pictures of every type of enemy, though. There's even a mission where you take pictures of giant lizards in Central Park, and you have to get close enough to the lizards to take pictures of them, without them seeing you and fleeing.
New York City is fairly large for a PS2 game, but the entire city looks the exact same, with no special-looking districts or anything (I don't ever recall finding a Times Square anywhere, for example). The main story is very short, and there's no incentive to continue playing after that.
Now to the graphics. Good news is, the framerate is good. The bad news is, the buildings and enemies are UGLY!!! Same goes with the cutscenes. It's slightly painful to look at.

As a fan of the Spider-Man 2 video game for the PS2, I was very disappointed with Spider-Man 3. It didn't feature any of the cool features promised for the HD versions, and was just a crappy game in general. Sure, it has its positives, but it just isn't much fun to play. You shouldn't even bother playing this one, even if you're a diehard Spider-Man fan. In fact, you'll be much better off playing Web of Shadows (a game which I don't like very much).
