Why does the game keep going to the beggining of the game when I enter the hcrayert?

There's actually two different ways methods you can use to get that cheat to work. Here's a mini walkthrough of each method.

METHOD 1:

Step one- Start Spider-Man 2 and delete any saved games you currently have (this step is crucial. If you have any previous saved games, this method will NOT work).

Step two- When the screen comes up for you to enter your name to start a new game, enter HCRAYERT. When you press enter, HCRAYERT will disappear from the name entry box. Proceed to enter whatever name you'd like.

Step three- The game will begin with story mode already completed.

METHOD 2:

Step one- Start a new game like normal, or start one of your saved games (with this method, having previous saved games won't mess things up).

Step two- Play the game until you reach the point where you want to use the cheat.

Step three- Select "New Game" from the Save/Load screen.

Step four- Enter HCRAYERT in the name entry screen. As in method one, when you press enter, HCRAYERT will disappear from the name entry screen. After this happens, do not, I repeat, DO NOT procedeed with starting a new game. Instead, click "cancel", and then click out of the pause screen.

Step five- When you unpause the game, story mode will be completed, and you will get the awards for beating the bosses. The nice thing about this method is that, unlike the first method, you can get whatever awards you'd like before entering the cheat.....and once you DO enter the cheat, those will be left intact (in otherwords, you don't have to worry about re-obtaining them!). Also, all of your stats (Number of hint tokens found, the total distance you've traveled in the game, how many citizens you've helped, etc.) will remain intact as well.

Also, a very important thing to note is that, with this method, if you wait until AFTER you've completed the first Story mode Daily Bugle mission (the one where you take pictures on the Empire State Building) to enter the cheat, you will be able to do the Photo Missions if you choose (and thus complete everything in the game if that's your goal). If you use method one to do the cheat you will NOT be able to do the photo missions. This is because doing the first Story Mode Daily Bugle mission is needed to trigger the rest of the Photo Missions (and in method one, you begin the game with story mode completed right away).
