To bring the mummy back to life, Sphinx must find Canopic Jars containing parts of Tutankhamun's soul. Every time a canopic jar is found, Bas-Ket (a basket) will take the jar and bring it to the mummy deep in the bowels of the Castle of Uruk. The canopic jar will bring the mummy back to life for a short period of time. In this time, the mummy must complete puzzles throughout the Castle of Uruk, including sneaking past metal eyes that will close doors if they see him.
The mummy can turn into many different things by the traps set around the castle to kill intruders. As the mummy is dead, there are no lives for those levels, but the challenges are harder than most Sphinx levels.
He can be squashed into a paper-thin mummy, get zapped into a bat, get electrocuted, get set on fire, and get split into 3 mummies to perform tasks with multiple parts. His goal is to find the Stolen Abydos jewels hidden about the castle. When the mummy accomplishes his goal, his canopic jar's life span will end and the mummy will teleport back to the dungeon.
AS for Sphinx, he has to fight enemies such as giant green worms, mummy chihuahuas, fire armadillos, and bosses such as the Geb Queen and eventually, Set.
His abilities are slowly improved over the span of the game. Collect 4 gold ahnks to raise your health ahnks by one (you must have someone with the right skills do it). His gained abilities are: to swim at extremely fast speeds so he can get somewhere quickly before he drowns; the ability to somersault so he can reach high places; the ability to push and pull extremely heavy objects; and more.
In the first levels of the game, Sphinx will acquire the Blade of Osiris; once wielded by Osiris himself; and the Shield of Osiris. He will also receive capture beetles; these scarab beetles will capture most monsters, but you can only use them at exactly the right moment.
Many levels will require you to have 1 or more of a certain type of enemy; 2 common types of enemies needed in the game are Slim Burbles; a highly explosive animal that will detonate on contact; and fire armadillos; skeletal armadillos that will roll into a ball while on fire and roll quickly towards you; they are used for setting things on fire, such as crates and wooden braces.
To capture creatures: hit the creature, but be cautious, as the creature will flash yellow if ready to be captured, but if you hit it too quickly, it will die before you can capture it.
Bottom line: a game worth having, loads of fun and challenges, and many funny mummy moments! Just try it!
