Feels like good ol' Rick Dangerous from Amiga :-) Not too creative and chaotic, but for us who want classic platformers like legendary Jet set Willy.

For the ones who play, i'd like to tell them, beware of the monster spider and happy spelunking
I used to think that this game sucks.
Once you play, you feel like a real adventurer.
This game is small, but pretty adictive

Don't people get it? There's an achievement to beat the game with NO shortcuts in under 8 minutes.
If this game weren't hard, it'd be the shortest game ever.
This game is fun because of the challenge and huge amount of risk=reward gameplay. I've played 3+ hours total and I've seen maybe half the levels, yet I've never been bored or frustrated. It's just fun.
2 Like People "have to understand" that spelunky is about adventuring through a ever new world every time you play. So having to start over in some way, when you screw up, is pretty much the point of the game. Your goal is not so much to pluntly "beat the game" - your goal or fun is to find ever new ways to survive nasty but very interesting situations to explore the game, to "earn" a highscore. Anyway, if for you gaming is mostly about "poodlebreeding" or giving yourself into the illusion that you're great - without having done something great at all, this game is not for you.
But if you like to have "true adventures". And having to improvise alot with things the game throws at you. And like to have to make decisition that really matters, when playing a game. And like to improve yourself alot(maybe even in a spiritual sense). Then this game is almost perfect for you.
@hochstreck I get what you mean about cultivating patience, but video games improving somebody "spiritually"? LOL!
@orthodox1976 Well.. Why not? Do you think the bible(a book of grizzly fairytales) or any other media is suited so much better for that? :P
In the end, "spirituality" is about "what you do", "how you do things" and the conclusions you draw from these. And as games are mostly about "doing things", you should get my drift by now...
Just because most videogames and their many players like to present themselves as somewhat "simple-minded", it doesn't mean there is nothing to be learned from them(Alas, the most is probably learned by studying their folly.).
Looks great, sounds fun, but I am not into being punished and want to just have fun, not be frustrated.
This game ia awfull cuz every time u die u have to restart to the begining of the game.
I was at lvl 2-2 and died and i restarted from 1-1 ?!?!?!?!

Seriously dude, permadeath is not a new feature and you need to remember that this is a rogue-like game.
And for your information, once you make it to the second thematic world, you can start saving up for a shortcut to go there whenever you want.

1 Like @ch4real In that case, I suggest COD or BF... Likely more an enjoyable pace for you. If you don't like Indie, then don't play them... Talking **** about graphics in an Indie game is pointless and naive. But perhaps you're a bit young to understand the movement?

3 Like @innocent69 That only applies to the XBLA section. PC is still kicks everyone else asses when it comes to indie games. For me the best exclusive games are still Gears and Halo.

Make no mistake, back in the original version, it was on par with IWBTG difficulty at times.
If we can get something straight here, the franchise Spelunky came first. Terraria came out 2 years later.
