At GDC 2013, Sony revealed their plans to make the PlayStation ecosystem a friendlier place for small developers to publish.
Sony PLEASE I need a freaking GOOD game for my Vita, it's collecting dust since Disgaea 3. PLEASE. Thanks.
Indie games just arn't for me. I hope this doesn't impact the number higher tier games that gets released for the PS VITA / PS4 (PS3 is dead to me).
I don't think it will "replace", but it will be a great avenue for indies to take to get their material in front of those who only play consoles. From what I have heard at this point the process is being streamlined making it easier. That's good.
Absolutelly not that is the job of OUYA a 100$ open source console not a 700$ behemoth of technological prowess
I don't care. I prefer the old model. where Sony actually gives support to some of the most interesting indie ideas. The last thing I need is a PS Store infested with thousands of indie craps.
no...console systems hardware are always behind PC, the only thing that keeps consoles competitive is exclusive games, that's it...if every games are release on every platforms, no one would even bother to buy a console
No, not really. PS4 can certainly try though. With Desura and Steam's Greenlight, it will be hard to take down PC's Indie gaming, IMO.
Why would I buy an indie game on a console that is 10X less powerful than my CURRENT pc?
Just notice something about ganespot. First they talk about interesting or cool game news ppl like then they mention something like "could it beat this", "change how other systems work" or " will this change game style". Sounds like they are intentionally starting fan arguments on purpose.
seeing as I doubt that the PS4 will be there last console the short answer is no
Angry Birds in HD3DTV... If I wanted crappy indy games..I'd just buy an Ouya.. Hey Fanboys..I'm a PC gamer...bout time you guys caught up...LOOOOL
No, replace is far from the aim. Sony sees the potential and leaps made in the indie scene, especially in the last couple of years. By opening the platform they are creating a win/win scenario. I think the developers are the big winners though, as this will only help to increase exposure to them and their games.
I really dont think it will replace it in anyway, since we have an easier accesible console on its way. The OUYA
i have the playstation from 1 to 3, nintendo, sega, and an atari consoles, and still not letting go of my PC. the world might say desktop computing is dead, but to let it die out is like not having software in the first place. desktops are here to stay!
and exactly how many thousands of dollars will Sony charge indie developers to have there game put on PSN? Not to mention the AAA company's also charge to role out updates or patches, (that apply's to all game company's) Wile PC indie games all you really need is a website with storage space (a lot of good 99$ a year or even free options). Some of the best indie games I've played on the PC were Viral marketed using Facebook, twitter and YouTube.
u can wait forever snce u r a computer noob, mine does have one, wnat it? learn to code stuff... nooba
Dustin Spino you can build PC that will lap a console for the same price. Get your head out of your ass such as I did in my own. I was a console fan boy for years till I built my own PC for gaming. And I haven't looked back, you do it and you won't either.
The PS4 can be a good alternative, but never a replacement. Nothing can replace a PC... :)
Of course it won't replace the PC as the best indie game platform, but what I love about console indie games is they make indie games more accessible to the general public. Practically anyone can release a game, and if it's amazing it will sell amazing.
Shh, you can't point out consoles are better at something than PC gamers..... they start throwing fits! I would too if I spent a thousand dollars to play the same game as a 300 dollar console.
So PS4 is just becoming Steam? And Hunter, why does no backward compatibility be a problem for you? When you buy a PS4 it does not mean you PS3 is going to suddenly stop working LOL!
