Addictive little game.

One of the few games available on the Xbox 360 that I wished was available for the PS3 and now it is - and the Vita too! It doesn't disappoint on either platform.

There's a demo available so if you're curious, try it out - the game play in the demo is the basic gameplay in the full game, although in the full game there are different levels, enemies and weapons.

The game reminds me of the Atari 2600 game Pitfall II and the NES game Spelunker in terms of graphics and play. The advantage over Spelunker is that the mechanics are not as unforgiving - you can miss a jump, fall and not die like you did in Spelunker.

The main hook is that the levels are random and each time you play the levels are different. I did notice some similarities in the random levels and the exit is at the bottom but that doesn't detract from the fun.

I found myself just coming back to it again and again to get a higher score and to advance further in the levels. It certainly has that one more go feel and with the randomness and variety of weapons, it doesn't get old (at least not yet for me at least).

The controls are pretty tight. It looks like you can't walk off a ladder and that's a bit annoying and sometimes your guy will appear to stick against a wall momentarily but it's a minor thing. You can rescue a damsel to get extra life but it appears you have to knock her out to carry her and it would have been nice if you could just carry her without knocking her out.

It's a bit pricey at $15.00 but if you have a Vita, that's only $7.50 a platform if you divide it that way. But even at $15.00 for one platform I don't think I'd have felt ripped off.
