Spectral vs Generation is too shallow and outdated compared to other PS2 fighting games.

User Rating: 5 | Spectral vs Generation PS2
This game is a spin off from the Japanese Turn Based RPG, Spectral series, which is also from the 'Idea Factory'. It decided to go down the roots of many other games franchise and take different routes to presenting their franchises, to different auidences.

For a fighting game, you'll better off finding something like King of Fighters XI or a Guilty Gear game, because this game doesn't really live up to 2D fightng games for the PS2. The game is simply too shallow and outdated. It's the reason no one is playing the game. The only reason I bought and tired this game is solely because I wanted to find something different.

You have 10 fighters to choose from, each with there own unique fighting style and weapons, it's your typical personality from anicent Asian theme RPG games, you have a martial artist, witch, sword fighter, unhuman beast mixed in a world of good and evil, each taking part in a tournament to become champion of the world.

That's all you're ever getting from this fightng game, while you enter a 1 vs 1 match, survival and two player mode. Pick up your controller, preform specials and super specials and fight the typical overpowered unbeatable boss. Even on the easiest mode, the boss is really overpowered. The lasting value? Many will leave this game lying around 30 minutes after you purchase the game.

This game was released in 2007. The graphics aren't formidable, they're simply below par, more below a game like Street Fighter Alpha which was released back in 1994. There other current games that have better graphics, like Guilty Gear X, which can display high res character sprites or King of Fighters 2000 ported onto the PS2, was as much as the Neo Geo took back in 2000, this game graphics would of been better if it was released back in 1997 and ported onto the first Playstation. Another reason you should find something else.

The artistic part of the graphics is good, however if it wasn't for the low resolutions 1993 graphcs, it's ugly to look at, which is a shame, because artistic must of work hard, putting some personality into the characters.

While the soundtrack does do a good job of playing J-Pop in the intro screen, that's really all it does. That's all the good music, you'll ever going to get. The only sounds you'll get are the basic punching or hitting noises.

Overall, you should think twice about getting this extremely shallow and outdated fighting game.
