Our most prestigious award goes to the single greatest game of the year--the game that moved us, impressed us, and entertained us like none other. Since we play and enjoy hundreds of games each year, it isn't easy to settle on a winner, even when just a handful of games truly stand head and shoulders above the rest, as was the case in 2006. So, before we celebrate the winner of GameSpot's 2006 Game of the Year award, we wish to sincerely congratulate the 10 finalists we've selected. These are the best games of the year, and considering the competition, their achievement is remarkable.
