btw. The link I posted are not my instructions. I bought a wheel and couldnt find a comfortable way to play it. I searched the interweb untill I found that design, and I figured it was worth a shot. After droping $130 on the wheel I couldn't afford to spend much on my racing setup. If you have a few tools and a home depot nearby (Lowes doesn't carry all the parts), this is a very cost effective solution. Now I'm all ready to go when GT5 hits the shelves.

@VENOM_8625: yes, you can switch the gear stick to the other side.

If you are going to go this far in to properly setting up a wheel, you might as well spend an extra $100 and get the playseat evolution. It is the complete package (not including the wheel of course): driver seat, pedal mount, wheel mount and optional shifter mount. What is nice about the playseat is that it puts the wheel hardware in a more proper/realistic driving position.

jMartin1016 I think I'll go with your instructions. WOW 129 Dollars ( not counting tax. that's a pretty hefty penny to pay out considering how much you are shelling out for the games as it is!

I built my own wheel stand. $35 and 3 hours of work and it works great. Here is a link to the instructions. Mine is just like this one, but mine is candy apple red. Works great with the Driving force GT! I think it would work for any wheel.

I would like to see someone sitting in front of this. That main rod between your legs isn't probably the most comfortable option out there.

The pics with this article are terrible. How about showing someone actually using it on a couch or a single chair, u know the way it's actally going to be used. That way we could get an idea of whether or not it looks like a viable option for use.

RennSport Wheel Stand

Why race on a coffee table?

One of the best ways to play the recently released Forza 3 (or any other driving game) is with a wheel and pedal setup. While they can add a lot to the experience of your virtual drive, it isn't always easy to find a place to set them up. Sure, you can attach them to a desk or table but the result isn't always ideal. Some wheels even have a lap extension so you can put the contraption on your lap but we've never found one that felt anything like driving. At the opposite end of the spectrum, there's also the elaborate full cockpits, should you happen to have several thousand dollars laying around and an extra living room to house it in. So what's a race fan who wants to get his wheel on to do?

Last week, one possible solution arrived at GameSpot HQ courtesy of Microsoft and the folks at Fanatec. We received a RennSport Wheel Stand which serves as a mobile and adjustable solution for your racing needs. The version we received came complete with the Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S Wheel already attached, but construction looks to be a pretty simple process. Once put together, you have a very solid base that folds up into a package small enough to fit under the bed, yet offers a remarkably solid setup.
