Nintendo DSi LL

Nintendo has been busy churning out different revisions of the Nintendo DS since 2006. First we saw the release of the original Nintendo DS in 2004. Two years later, Nintendo introduced the DS Lite, which improved on the original, arriving in a much smaller, less Tonka-truck-like form factor and sporting brighter screens. Last year, the Nintendo DSi further changed the console with the addition of two digital cameras. And now the DSi LL pops out with gigantic 4.2-inch screens and a larger stylus (by comparison, the DSi has 3.25-inch screens).

The pictured version of the DSi LL is Nintendo's natural white; the console also comes in red wine and dark brown colors. The console was released in Japan on November 21 for $220.50 and will debut in the US and Europe in the first quarter of 2010, where it will be called the DSi XL.

Make your way through the gallery to get a good look at the DSi LL and to get our thoughts on it.

The screens could be bigger, but the resolution is the same cr*ppy 256 x 192, so everything will look more pixelated on these screens, and did they forgot the concept of "portable"? That thing looks almost like a netbook LOL....

Im curious if they fix the casing around the dsi LL the dsi was to scratch prone unlike the lite which had a type of plastic coating. If you compared the dsi and lite you know what im talking about.

it looks cool and having a bigger screen may be nice, but all in all, its just a bigger version of the DSi.

I think it's overpriced considering that the Wii costed around the same price when I bought it.

My DS Lite has been serving me well for 2 years, but those larger screens look nice. Glad I held off on the DSi... Just might consider one of these.

What is with these companies releasing a new version of their hardware every second week? Sony's new PS3 Slim, this, the DSi, PSP and Xbox 360 all release reiterated versions of their respectable devices, this is stupid, i have a gaming PC i already have to keep updated with new pieces of hardware every few months. The whole reason i have a PS3 and 360 is so that i don't update crap like this every few months. I'm pretty sure the big 3; Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are trying their best to replicate the gaming pc dilemma as mentioned before by doing these things. Use the money to develop better/more games with fresh idea's instead of adding another a gig of hdd space to my console or adding a second mic/camera to my handheld device for f@#k knows what purpose.

Wow, you people saying Nintendo needs to focus more on Games...

You think they just have one team that does everything at Nintendo? NO.
They have many different teams working on different games, and a separate design team for the consoles. They have different teams focusing on different things AT THE SAME TIME. Imagine that.

I will probally get one of these or the original DSI, but what I don'nt understand is why don't they make a version of the DSI with a GBA slot, I mean all they need to do to the XL/LL is make it ait thicker and put it back in.
