When we last saw the Mortal Kombat characters, they were busy going toe-to-toe with some of DC Comics' finest fighters. For the latest game in the series, it appears that the MK development team is going in a different direction by keeping it an all-Mortal Kombat affair. Additionally, it seems as though the game--at least in terms of environments--is a mash-up of popular arenas from the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Mortal Kombat 3. As for gameplay, Mortal Kombat will have a few new features, including a new tag system that lets four characters do battle in a single fight, and of course some brand-new, over-the-top fatalities. The trailer begins with the camera panning up on a character's face just as he lifts his eyelids to reveal two fiery orbs of death--also known as eyeballs. Scary.
