Best Role-playing Game

Role-playing games come in a variety of different flavors. In 2007, Mass Effect gave players guns--and room--to explore the good, the bad, and the in-between. On the other hand, Eternal Sonata led us down a linear path characterized by exciting battles, loveable personalities, and a beautiful, lush fantasy world. There were a whole lot of clunkers too, though. All the more reason to be thankful for the great RPGs on our list.

The Witcher

The game features you as a Witcher, a warrior who has been trained to fight since childhood and has been subjected to mutations and trials that have transformed him. You earn your living by killing monsters, and you are a member of a brotherhood founded long ago to protect people from werewolves, the undead, and a host of other beasts.
