- Feb 6, 2013 5:56 am GMTThought I might as well make one, as the game came out today.
I played about 30 minutes of the trial. It was fun and pretty good, but it wasn't really great or unique imo. If I didn't have any multiplayer games that I was currently playing I'd totally pick this up, but I'm probably gonna pass as I still am playing Halo 4, and Colonial Marines comes out in less than a week. - Feb 6, 2013 5:58 am GMTThe game is addicting and its a pick up and play

but i am getting it on steam i see pc having more players - Feb 6, 2013 8:16 am GMTIt's on steam??
Might have to do that. My PC struggles to run modern games but can run anything source-related just fine.
Might have to download the trial on xbox and buy on steam...

Gamers are the most ignorant, rudest, and most self-entitled group of people I've ever had the misfortune of associating with. - Feb 6, 2013 10:43 am GMTI've been reading the Steam boards. People are saying the game has few players online right now and that the game is a bad console port. I expect not many people online right now but not allowing some options to be manipulated on PC???
Might have to go with console version this time. Hopefully CoD and Halo 4 won't effect this community life expectancy.

GAMING PODCASTS & REVIEWS@ http://www.youtube.com/user/TheEliteX1 - Feb 6, 2013 4:54 pm GMTThis game blew my mind. Wasn't rated, never heard of it, only 230 mbs or something near there.
Gave a try and wow. So so SO awesome. Customizations, ragdolls, cell shaded graphics!?! Various game modes and maps... YES PLS - Feb 6, 2013 5:59 pm GMTI'm super excited to try it. Blacklight: Tango Down was pretty awful, but Blacklight: Retribution is one of the only games to ever capture "that" special feel of COD4 (Also it's EASILY the best free-to-play game on the market).
So I'm definitely gonna pick this game up if I enjoy the trial...

[LanParty nF4 Ultra-D] [AMD64 3700+ San Diego] [2x 1gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8] [2x 250gb Barracuda] [Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS] [X850XTPE] - Feb 6, 2013 7:12 pm GMTIt's really fun but alot more so on PC (as with any game).
But I may just buy it on both cause it's that enjoyable.
It as if TF2, GoW, and CS all had a baby together. Just as addicting too. - Feb 6, 2013 7:21 pm GMTOn my second round in the trial, the game spawned me trapped behind a crate and I couldn't move, couldn't kill myself, couldn't do anything. Had to quit out of the round.
Kind of a sour feeling to have it happen after only five minutes of gameplay, but ... things happen I guess.

PSN:Knickyknucklez 360:Kn1ckyknucklez - Feb 6, 2013 11:00 pm GMTI played it and unfortunately I'm not too impressed. It's a bit clunky and the shooting mechanics feel laggy/choppy. It's hard to squeeze a single round off and the audio doesn't match the rounds being fired. Same thing happened with SOCOM 3 and newer.
You should one, two, or three bullets and the game plays the same sound. Essentially all pulling the trigger does is loop a sound clip instead of making the sound every time you fire a bullet.
Makes it hell for taking pot shots and trying to maintain accuracy.

Most of your 'issues' is because you are playing a new generation game on console technology 10 years old.
On PC it's awesome. Can't expect too much with Xbox now. I still think the game is way fun. Don't be such a sour sandy or negative nancy. - Feb 7, 2013 9:42 am GMTControls don't feel tight to me.. The movement is awkward and the cover mechanic is touchy.. Ill pass on this one.
But I do admit it looks great and the style is nice.

I'm sorry but that is such bull. That statement is perfectly valid if we are talking about Crysis 3 or Battlefield 3 or Witcher 2, but this game is NOT reduced in quality anyway by the lack of Xbox power. I bought BF3 on PC when it came out so I can run it to its max potential rather than a poor console port, but this game isn't any weaker on console. Both versions are equal. This game isn't some power-consuming juggernaut, it's a 3000 MB downloadable shooter.
The control problems just have to do with poor problems on the developer side, most likely as a result of them being used to making PC games and thus not adept at controller settings. PCs are superior to consoles in almost every way, shape, and form, but that doesn't make their versions of games always better than the console counterparts.
Sorry for that rant, I just get annoyed when I see posts like that. It's that elitist attitude that makes us PC gamers so despised by the console community. - Feb 7, 2013 2:18 pm GMT"PCs are superior to consoles in almost every way, shape, and form, but that doesn't make their versions of games always better than the console counterparts. "
Maybe I'm just an elitist, but aren't you proving my point more with this statement?
Just cause its 300 mbs doesn't mean it's not cutting edge.
Ragdolls, something that what makes this game so fun, and the way blood spurts from wound marks, etc. take up a considerable amount of processing power.. Something many console titles cut corners on (cough call of crap) because its difficult to incorporate while keeping things going at a fast rate.
Regardless, if you actually took time to play PC - you would know that all those issues you had are gone, cause PC hardware can handle the features that make the game so fun! Also, PC has dedicated servers so that immediately takes out the lag argument as I don't believe Xbox version has dedicated servers. - Feb 7, 2013 2:49 pm GMTOh no no no. You misinterpret me. PCs CAN do more can consoles can, a lot more, but not every game uses this advantage. Many games (heck, I’d so most games available on all platforms) are built to run at the same level of efficiency on all platforms. They are built at the same time, or at first on console then ported to a PC which will be known to handle the max that they can fit on console, rather than made on PC then ported to console at lower quality (obviously there are exceptions like BF3, Crysis, anything Valve made, etc). Just think about it: if this really was the case and all games were made better on PC by the devs (I’m taking mods, M+K support, etc out of the equation), then they would be doing MORE work than is necessary. Expending MORE resources. And that’s just bad business.
I played the trial on both PC and Xbox to see if there was really any difference and, to be frank, I didn’t notice much difference with the core game. PC was a bit better in terms of latency (but then again it always is), but not enough to be noteworthy imo. The main difference was that the game was smoother using a M+K compared to a controller, as the default settings are a bit different than what we’re used to on most console shooters. But by the end of my console trial any initial awkwardness caused by the controls vanished as I got used to them.
Basically, both versions are equal. The only way this will change is if population is greater on one platform down the road, which, to be fair, will probably be on console, as PC gamers have so many better, cheaper choices. Like for the same amount you can pick up NS2 or Chivalry during a Steam sale, or for the great price of nothing you can play PS2. - Feb 7, 2013 3:05 pm GMTWhatever, I respectfully disagree.
Cel-shading, with real ragdolls physics, and various other things burden the console processing abilities. Since ps3 and xbox360 games are all HD compatible, textures also need to be a certain size, you mix that in with cel-shade type graphics and physics, and p2p networking instead of dedicated servers, then developing a smooth experience with current hardware for consoles would prove quite difficult if not impossible. I do a little programming for mobile devices, so I know the pains of making various platforms compatible and operating the same way on all.
Sure they could cut corners for consoles to get better "tighter and crisper" controls, but that would ruin part of the game experience, at least for me. There is alot of 'behind the scenes' processing that directly affect input controls - ragdolls physics definitely complicate things on the processor side for console hardware, that's why many current games cut corners on that ( and it happens to be one of the things I enjoy most).
Partially why most console ports have less players in multiplayer, because the processing power of console tech is limited.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Xbox fan, but tech is old .. Hence reason why new consoles will probably be out later in the year.
And how did you play trial on PC?? I'm pretty positive there was no demo or trial on Steam for any game, this one cause I wanted to before buying but couldn't so I just bought it... - Feb 12, 2013 6:27 am GMTSpeaking of opinions, here's TotalBiscuit's take on the final product:
