Pikmin 3

Pikmin are cute. That’s not a judgment of any kind, just a statement of fact, and one of the reasons the prospect of controlling more of these flowery beings delights us. But it goes much further than that. Pikmin is the rare franchise that figured out how to translate the decidedly PC action of real-time strategy games to a console. By focusing on positioning and maneuvering your miniature army, Pikmin is a fast, exciting game that relies just as much on sharp reflexes as smart strategy.
Nintendo didn’t show much to separate Pikmin 3 from Its predecessors, but because it’s been eight years since we last controlled Olimar and his plant-based friends, it’s time to get back to collecting stray bits of trash for the good of the world. Plus, as endearing yet challenging as the single-player experience usually is, Pikmin 2 showed how engaging competitive play could be, so we’re giddy at the prospect of staging another pint-sized war against another player.
Pikmin 3 is the most exciting Wii U exclusive we’ve seen thus far and one of the standout games at this crowded show.

This has made me want to re-buy Pikmin 2 for the gamecube. It just sucks that apparently the game is a collector's item now resulting in some ridiculously high prices.
I love the game and sure hope they have multiplayer like Pikmin 2. Game looks gorgeous by the way
I was hoping the 2-player mode would have been available in story modefor Pikmin 2, but alas, only in battle mode.
Does anyone know if Pikmin 3 with be a 2 to 4 player in story mode? Wth the new controllers, it's highly do-able
I would say Pikmin 3, but I look at how much GameStop wants for Wii U games ($99.99), So im gonna stick with the Xbox/PS3 games.
It is nice to see first footage of a game I have wait since 2008, and it makes me more interested.
Nintendo´s press conference this year was a failure in my opinion! i don´t see any reason to buy the wii U ! its use is pointless and games extremely boring...unliKe PS3.
All hail Pikmin 3! Even just seeing it on my PC screen in a relatively low res internet video I could tell the graphics were a MAJOR step up. Then once I saw it on the clearer screen of my Kindle Fire, I was really blown away, and the Fire isn't even HD.The scene where the Pikmin and their leader are floating on a lily pad and there are big bugs buzzing above them was particularly nice, because it made the scene feel much more alive. There were many more creatures than in the previous Pikmin games that were simply going about various things in that one scene, and not all of them were out to kill you. It made the scene feel like those opening moments in a Star Wars movie where the characters set foot on a new planet for the first time, and so they kind of pan around with the camera to show you all the buzz of activity going on so you get a feel for the place.
In short,I'm excited for this one.
@hippiesanta The simple fact that it can look this good even when there's a ton of characters doing different things on screen is impressive, IMO. Plus, it's running at 60 fps. Most people, for some odd reason, seem to be fine playing their games at 15-30 fps to get better graphics.
@hippiesanta That's because you're actually expecting next gen to be the same major leap we saw last gen, but I think you'll be disappointed when you find out that Microsoft and Sony can't afford to make that kind of leap next gen. With money being as tight as it is for most people, it's not logical for a new console to cost as much as it would to put the latest tech into a console. Sorry...
@skateryanboarde You took the words right out of my mouth! People expect products to keep up with technology. It can't happen! We can't afford to keep up. People just don't have the money. And now that the economy in America is somewhat weak, people aren't willing to spend as much on games. If Microsoft and Sony are smart, they won't step up the next gen much, just enough to make people satisfied. If they try anything drastic, they're digging their own grave!
..or at the very least, rent them! They were re-released for the Wii, so you have choices!
@luqmanr In this gamer's opinion, and that of a large cult following, the Pikmin games were some of the best the Gamecube had to offer. If you have a Wii or Gamecube around, pick them up.
This game's graphics are really underappreciated, when you see this game's trailer in high quality you can see how VERY Impressive the Photorealistic is, which some people dont understand how different it is from standard gaming Realistic these days.

@hotdiddykong It's also running at a solid 60 fps even with all of the different things that are going on. Definitely a positive, IMO.
This is one game I always wanted to play. It looked so cool. WIsh I would played the first two.
Considering there will sure be a 3D Mario game (= a TRUE Mario game) and a new Zelda, Nintendo only need to get Watch Dogs to have my money.
So... Pikmin 3 is in this list but not Tomb Raider? iSad. I'm too old for cutesy games.
@anasazi_pr Too old to control an army of tiny beings to bring down massive beasts and collect valuable items from a dangerous, giant world? Oh, I get it,you must be a senior. Throwing all those Pikmin hurts your back.
But seriously, as cute as the Pikmin and even some of their enemies may be,these games are by no means a walk in the park. You've actually got to have a considerable amount of skill in managing your horde or you're dead. These games aren't intended for toddlers.
never played the Pikmin game till just recently. got Pikmin 1 and i am horrible at it! i should go back and try to beat it and consider getting this one
Never owned a Gamecube, so I totally missed the Pikmin boat. I think I might have to try out the Wii control versions of the old Pikmin games because everyone seemed really excited for this game at the Nintendo press conference.
That really depends on what you mean, the design or the gameplay.
The design us rather cool at regular pikmin arnt really designed well to begin with (back at Pikmin 1 that is) and gameplay wise, the series gives each pikmin something that makes them really different and not simple things, the rock seems to smash things like Glass and can be thrown suprisingly farther than the Purple pikmin but i think thats their only way of doing damage.
Yes! Depth of field adds a really nice effect. I hope they add some nice, new features to both singleplayer and multiplayer.
I thought this looked pretty cute and gorgous. I never really played the Pikmin series (largely b/c I haven't had a Nintendo home console in over 25 yrs, lol). But this looks kinda fun.
Yeah, but if you havnt played Pikmin, you need to read, its a Strategy game and its hard, but the charm and gameplay itself makes it fun and makes you come back if your interested in the strategy genre
