"Underappreciated"
Are you like me? Are you sick of the yearly releases of shooters that plague the current video game industry? Are you tired of modern warfare games where patriotism is spewed out like soft serve fro-yo? Do you want a shooter that feels real? Then congratulations, I have the perfect shooter for you. While Spec Ops: The Line may not be the perfect game, it's narrative more than makes up for whatever downfalls it may have.

Without getting too much into the story, you play as Captain Walker, leader of Delta team that enters Dubai with the mission to evacuate whatever survivors are there. And without getting too specific, things are bad. Very, very bad. So it is your job do figure out what the hell is going on in the city.

It's tough to really discuss how great the story is in this game without revealing too much, but it reverses the thinking that most modern shooters take nowadays. In all of the Call of Duty and Battlefield games, the main story can basically be summed up as "There is a bad guy, we are the guys, we kill the bad guy." Which was fine for a couple of years, back when the first Modern Warfare games were released and modern shooters were just coming into form. But that was years ago, and Spec Ops shows that games can tell much deeper stories, like how the line between good and evil isn't so clear cut, and how that line is easily crossed without even noticing it.

So, yea, the story is great, the characters are interesting, both good and bad, so on and so on. However, gameplay at times can feel a bit repetitive, and the controls don't feel up to par as some of the shooters of today. But whatever downfalls the game may have should not prevent you from buying this game.
