User Rating: 8.5 | Space Quest I: Roger Wilco in The Sarien Encounter (VGA Version) PC
Long story short: our hero, Roger Wilco, the chief sanitation engineer a.k.a. janitor wakes up one lovely day on his starship Arcada just to face alien attack. Those aliens happen to be Sariens and they stole Star Generator and now the fate of the universe is in his hands.

Being involved in this space marry-go-round we get to visit Arcada, where we make first contact with the Sariens. Walking around I encourage to examine everything just for the sake of reading Wiclo’s many funny remarks. The arcade elements and timer ticking are very nice addition and are very well composed to the gameplay. Of course our hero can die, and in most of the times he will die in spectacular, stupid or funny way, which is just plain fun to watch.
The scenery is pretty varied throughout the game. If we do everything right, the next place we visit will be Kerona, a Dune like planet, where we get to see lots of sand and some small settlement and finally the Deltaur – Sarien spaceship.
Backgrounds are nicely drawn as well as characters. Point and click system is very easy to master. There are no dead points, where you get stuck for hours just because the thing you have to do to move forward is simply unimaginable. The Sarien Encounter is made the way, player just knows where to click and what to do.

The game itself is rather easy. There are maybe few places where you have to stop for a second and think, but surprisingly that’s not a bad thing here. Although veterans will be able to finish this game in the matter of hours (two at most), game brings loads of fine written and very funny dialogues plus some references to the mass culture. The plot is interesting and even though without any major twists, Space Quest I given nice VGA graphics, good sound effects, sharp and humorous dialogues has pretty nice replayability. Classic.
