In the future, it was said, that everyone would be famous for 853,000,073,000 nanoseconds...
I love adventure games. They are heavy on story, characters and puzzles. But Sierra adventures are different because they add a sense of action, danger and realism to the mix. In Space Quest you take the role of Roger Wilco, a rather mediocre space janitor who finds himself in some very impossible situations. But Roger always manages to come through and save the universe every time. The games features some very well written humour and science fiction parodies as well that have come to make the series not only famous but stand out amongst their fellow "quest series" siblings.
These games are also very beautiful. Every game (regardless of technology of the time) has backgrounds and characters that have been carefully drawn down to the last deatail. From the colorful vector graphics in Vohaul's Revenge to the breath taking hand painted backrounds and motion captured actors in Space Quest IV every game in this collection says loads about the photo realism that we have always been able to reach in gaming. And the Music in every game is also very well composed, always capturing the mood in every scene to give the games a very cinematic delivery.
Now if you feel you can muster up the courage to face an entire universe single handidly then you need to check out the Space Quest series. Priced at only $20, you have no reason not to, unless you don't like to exercise your brain when you play games, in wich case you should just get back to playing Halo.
