Spaced out visuals allied with addictive gameplay make this game well worth the asking price...
As you are probably aware, Atari's classic Tempest, provides the best idea of the game's basic mechanic, but Llamasoft have made some rule changes that make this feel quite different to play-though not that different. The visuals are definitely of the chemically enhanced variety, and the audio is similarly mental. For O.G's older than 30 It has an almost comforting feel to it, and fans of Jeff's work on the old C64/Speccy/MSXetc will get a warm feeling when hammering "hoof shots" at the mad meanies coming at you from down the matrix web thingy. On the down side, things can get a bit confusing when the screen fills up with swirling colours and multi-coloured bullets, so concentration is vital!
But hey folks for £2.50 you cannot go wrong.
Llamasoft are a bit of a rare breed of developer, and have always seemingly gone their own way, never following convention, and simply sticking to good gameplay and reproducing their unique visual/audio style.
