Even as a South Park fan, I can still notice a couple of faults.

User Rating: 7 | South Park N64
Pros: based on one of the most popular franchises, follows episodes of the show faithfully, music and sound is good, weapons are interesting, it's the only FPS with the cast of South Park.

Cons: controls take awhile to get used to, lack of health power-ups, difficulty is ramped up too soon, nearly impossible to beat without cheats.

Like many TV show franchises, South Park ended up being turned into a game in hopes of cashing in on its success. But just like many TV show games, they are often either bad or just mediocre, such is the case of South Park for the N64. The game follows a few episodes of the TV show such as the killer turkeys, and clones, though I don't remember an episode of robots or killer toys. Now the question is, would you want to play it? Well, yeah, what other FPS game do you get to play as all your favorite South Park characters? The plot of the game is that there is a comet that is near South Park and is causing strange things, so it's up to Cartman, Kenny, Stan, and Kyle to save the town. There are a variety of weapons to use in this game, such as the snowball, Terrance and Phillip dolls, a cow launcher, and many more weapons. The game has good graphics, the character look like their TV show counterparts, they are colorful, and resembles the TV show as well. The music and sound is also good, the characters have the catchphrases from the show, it has the South Park theme, and the music is catchy. The game suffers from controls that seem to take awhile to get used to, they can also feel either too lose or too stiff. Another problem is this game is hard, but for the wrong reasons, the game lacks any health power-ups and with how quickly enemies can swarm you, it really becomes a problem, now the difficulty just seemed to ramp up too early in the game, after beating the first two stages, it becomes harder and harder, and since there are little power-ups, it really becomes a chore to maintain your health and beat the game. So with very few health items, the game is forcing you to pretty much cheat, and unfortunately that's what you need to do, because the final boss is impossible to beat, he will recharge his health every time it gets low and you have limited ammo for a specific weapon, but it's rare to come across it and unless you have been hording it, the boss is a pain to defeat. If those problems were fixed, the gam would be better.

Overall, South Park on the N64 is a pretty good game, but with awkward controls, lack of health, and difficulty ramp, it really hampered it. But at least it is a fun game that can hold you over for a little bit and I consider it the best South Park game out there.
