I hate fighting games, but I still enjoyed Soul Calibur.

I just don't get what the appeal to fighting games is. With games the way they are, with huge worlds to explore and so much to do, why play a game where you can only move a few feet any direction, and all you do is fight? I don't get it. But I got SC anyways, just because 1) it was dirt cheap, and 2) all the hype surrounding it.

I must say, I was fairly impressed. The graphics were excellent, both the background and the characters. There was an actualy storyline, better than most fighting games. This game could have been amazing if it was more of an adventure game. The gameplay was very good, although at times it's a little tough getting the character to do the move you want him/her to do. The only thing I really didn't like, other than that it was a fighting game, was the characters themselves. They were just a little too "Japanese anime" for me. The guys all kind of had the metrosexual look to them, the women also had the anime look, and there was the obligatory couple "scary" characters, which I preferred. Objectively speaking, even though I hate fighting games, if you DO enjoy fighting games even a little, this is a must have.
