Still as Epic as ever. Like wine, aged to perfection.

The game controls as still as sharp as they were years ago, and even if you've never played SoulCalibur, you'll most certainly begin to get used to some character after only a short while playing. Their simplicity allows newer players ( or rusty ones ) to quickly develop a playstyle right off the bat.

More importantly, the graphic's slight improvements are more than enough: If they were completely refurbished, it wouldn't feel like the good ol' SoulCalibur many of us know. But they weren't left the same either: Improved textures and smoothed out models allow you to actually enjoy some Oldschool eyecandy when you pull off some marvellous moves.

Theres an extreme amount of character variety and each character has plenty of moves to go with it. As a matter of fact, the controls are so intuitive you'll most likely pull off a couple of special attacks or stances without even looking at the movelist.

The lack of Multiplayer and WideScreen options is a shame, but I believe that adding multiplayer to a game that was never designed to employ it ( It's an Arcade game after all! ) would probably not work very well. Widescreen could be a problem due to the same reasons, so it was to be expected.

In other words, this game is perfect for those who enjoy SoulCalibur and can't wait for SCIV to come out, or those of you that never played it but want to give it a try for only 800 Microsoft Points. Those of you who are looking forward to a High-Definition experience with eye-gouging graphics, widescreen and a polished multiplayer mode.... Well, just wait for SoulCalibur IV and leave this to the Arcade Junkies and those wishing to relive old memories. For those of you who enjoy playing old games after a long time, and loved SoulCalibur back in the day, it's an excellent option. And if you have friends that you used to play SC with back in the day...well, in that case this is by FAR the ultimate XBLA game.
