Soul Calibur is a revolution in itself because it's what inspired the fighting games we all play today.

Thought that the Tekken and Virtua Fighter series were good, well, think again. Soul Calibur brings an in - depth combat system, gorgeous graphics, and a bunch of re - playability to the table. Soul Calibur's story is simple, but big (if that makes sense). Find the Soul Edge and destroy it using the epic sword, Soul Calibur. But each of the characters do what they want in the end, some will choose to rule the world, some with choose to save it, and some will just continue on with their lives.

Using the Tekken fighting style but with swords, Soul Calibur is really fun and easy to pick up. That being said, the game is really easy (in the arcade mode), but the Missions Mode is what brings the challenge to the hard - core fighting gamers. In Missions Mode, you do battles that require you to do something in order to move on to the next mission. This mode seems a little dated because it is extremely identical to Soul Calibur's predecessor's Mission Mode. But Soul Calibur improves on its predecessor, Soul Edge, with better graphics, and unlockable characters and stages. In Arcade Mode, you play through each of the characters that you start out with, unlocking more characters, stages, and costumes along the way. A lot of the characters are similar to one another, but each have their own special story to tell. Other modes such as VS Mode, Survival, Training Mode, Time Attack, and Team Battle are self - explanatory.

Soul Calibur's music is most definitely some of the best in all of game fighting history! Each is heroic and well orchestrated. The game's graphics were second to none in 1999, of course, they are outdated now, but there was a lot of detail and the character animation was spectacular! Even for a ten - year - old game, Soul Calibur brings an experience that is nearly impossible for fans of the fighting genre to pass up.
