Almost the ultimate fighting game. Namco just need to keep searching for something special...

User Rating: 9.6 | SoulCalibur III PS2
Unbelievable ultimate fighting game with everything you could ever want. I would rate this up there or above Tekken 5 and I have no fear in sayin that this was the best £15 I have ever spent (yes, I'm from England). This game just makes you drool... mmm... Soul Calibur...

A new look for the second Soul game on PlayStation 2. I do not know why some people say that Namco shouldn't have made this game. There are three new characters and one new boss. Zasalamel and Tira were a major part of this game - I use tham a lot and I love Tira's fighting style. Setsuka did not really bother me (she fought with an umbrella...?) and Abyss (the boss) is what I was looking for in the last game. Nightmare and Siegfried are now different souls and they always have giant battles in the Tales of Swords mode.

Tales of Swords mode is like arcade in the last game except they added a little extra class this time - you can select your path to destiny (and a hidden boss maybe) and it is done as if it was a story for each individual character. In Chronicles of the Sword mode, you have to work your way through 20 cronicles and defeat the evil Strife. It is a strategic mode which proves that Namco really put everything in this game. World Competition mode is suspiciously like Virtua Fighter's Quest mode, where you have to beat all the best fighters to become the best yourself. In this mode, you have to win leagues and tournaments to succeed. In the Soul Arena, you battle your way through intense missions and win coins at the same time. My, my, that was a lot wasn't it. That's not it yet.

The Museum mode allows you to look at what you have one, which can be anything form pictures of almost anything to videos and profiles of each character (not including the extras). At the shop, you can buy weapons, armour and illustrations with all the coins you have won in almost every mode. As for multi player, there is versus mode but no team battle mode , which I find slighty dissapointing.

The gameplay is the best in any fighting game, the graphics make the characters almost real and the voices are not dodgy like voices in Virtua Fighter and others. I also love the music, I love everything about it!!! But still, there is something or someone (a fighter) that is still missing.

Thanks for reading. Jem.
