A great game that has 2 flaws that hold it back from being amazing.

User Rating: 8 | SoulCalibur III PS2
Soul Calibur III is the 4th game in the "soul" series. As such, one would expect many refinements and fixes. Mostly this is true, but there are two flaws.

First off, the Tales of Souls 'story' mode is heavily flawed. At around halfway through the story of any character, the AI decides to become almost impossible, knowing almost every attack as you input it. There are a few exceptions however, and it's frustrating that these matches can NOT be won by a true fight, and have to be won with cheapness and luck. This nearly ruins this section, making it a chore to play, even just to see the character's story ending, let alone making it without losing once.

The flaw needs no explination and that is the infamous 'data corrupt' glitch.

Other than these two flaws this game actually shines pretty well, the graphics are beautiful to look at, both characters and stages, the modes are nice to have, the unlocking stuff is not too bad, and the character creation is a very welcome touch.

Overall this game is worth a few bucks to buy, but don't play the ToS mode unless you're prepared to rip your hair out with frustration.
