Soul Calibur II is one of the best fighting games out there.

Soul Calibur II is basically a game where you get dropped into an arena and face off against an interesting aray of enemies, now that might sound boring at first, but SCII does a great job of making it fun! The story is about you (The player) on a quest to find the Soul Edge, a magic sword. The story is broken into chapters with a short story at the beginning of each stage. The battles vary in difficulty and you can change character before each match depending on who's best suited for the conditions. Yes, the matches have certain conditions such as: your health slowly decreases over time, or you have to defeat multiple enemies within the time limit, or only certain attacks can score. This makes the game alot more fun, mixes things up, and gives you lots of opportunities to get used to all the characters and their abilities. The special conditions of the matches also make the game more fun than just going through the same battles over and over and keep it from losing it's charm. You can get frustrated at parts, but the game is very addicting and it keeps you coming back for more with tons of unlockables including costumes, weapons, characters, and bonus galleries. There are also different modes like Arcade, Time Attack, and V.S. Mode. The one complaint I have with Soul Calibur II is the controls. While you may be able to get away with button-mashing the heck out of your controller, it takes a while to get used to the awkward descriptions for playing. For example: the game describes attacks as hitting A, B, G, or K instead of the X, O, square, and triangle buttons, this causes alot of confusion till you get the hang of it, which can take a while. All in all, Soul Calibur II is a great game that keeps you coming back for more with it's solid story, multiple game modes, and tremendous re-play value. -Popwar138
