This is really a fun fighting game to play, I loved the trial mode and the quick battle mode as well as the character creation and the ability to create over 16 custom characters but too bad it does not have story mode, I mean the gountlet was all about training and giving you tips but never showed any real storyline of any of the characters
this game rocks (accept gountlet) love creation mode should i get tekken can i create as maney street fighter and mk fighters as broken destiny and have them look acurate

I want an arcade mode and a real story. The fighting aspect looks great. The rest doesn't call to me. I may give it a shot because of the fighting system. Other than that it doesn't seem very fun. I hope I'm wrong. Does anyone recommend? If so, why?

@Theamazing55 If you haven't already chosen one, get Dark Resurrection. It's quite possibly not only the best fighter for PSP, but one of the best games in the entire library!
@Gammet25 the psp is a developmental console. it is prone and subject to revision, rejection, and some minor setbacks. it is going well in the gaming industry as the leading handheld so far. But it is still not perfect and will have some failure.(example: this game)
@mariobros210 Agreed. I still own Soul Blade (PS1), Soul Calibur (Dreamcast) and Soul Calibur 2 (Gamecube). And REALLY don't like what happened from SC3 (PS2) forward.

This game sucks, hands down. NO online play,NO arcade mode,and a retarded storyline? Kratos doesn't make up for this. They should take Soul Caliber back to its dreamcast roots before they make a new one.

Im mad there isn't online. It would make this game have so much more replay value and it would be good for a story. I don't always like fighting it match after match. There should be a story and online to extend the replay value.
omg, what did they do with soul calibur over the years, its time to seriously make a remake from the dreamcast version and exclude those retarded exclusive characters, seriously. patefile who also likes facial hair, gross.
Ouch! I was kinda hoping for an awesome story, what with Kratos and all. But still, SoulCalibur is SoulCalibur, and I still look forward to giving it a shot.
It would be better if they focused on an actual story mode. And an Online Play. Still I may buy it, but I will have to try it first to see if I like it, And I'll wait till the price drops.
Good review but would have scored it higher. Its soulcalibur 4 but with 2 more charecters so why such a low score?

Since I already own Soul Calibur IV on the PS3, I was hesitant in buying this for my PSP. But when I saw a gameplay video of Kratos and Dampierre, I was impressed enough to give it a try. After playing the game for a few days, I can honestly say that the single-player modes offered in Broken Destiny are better than the single-player modes in the original console versions, at least in terms of replay value. Sure, there are no character endings, but in terms of actual gameplay, you get to fight a vast amount more variety of characters in BD's Quick Match and Trial modes because of the ghost player data. In addition, the Gauntlet mode actually seems to be better at teaching new players the game's mechanics than the Tower of Lost Souls mode in SCIV. Honestly, don't be turned off by the lack of an Arcade mode in this game. Quick Match and the Trials are better than the abysmal arcade mode that was in the original console version of SCIV. The only thing this game lacks is the Story mode with the ending sequences, but I'm assuming Namco did that in order to conserve UMD space.
i think it's a good game, but putting kratos in it is wrong 'cuz all the god of war players are used to see BLOOD combos, no flashes and stuff... And the quality of sc broken destiny is bad, bad if you have seen the quality of other soul caliburs and god of war games... I'm not gonna buy it when it releases, but maybe when it's on a low price...
GS again harshly rates a game that didn't pay for a good review. From what I've experienced, it's very fun and the lack of certain modes has been present in many of the games and should not be met with surprise anymore. I'm going to buy this as well as Dissidia and Chains of Olympus.
i have soul calibur 2,3 and 4, and have played the earlier ones a fair bit but they seen to slide off track SC4 had the most pathetic attemt at a story mode i've ever seen and here, there simply is none No singleplayer = no thanks
