Vita´s saviour? No. Great game? Yes!

User Rating: 9 | Soul Sacrifice VITA
This game had been hyped around the internet for some time by the day of its release. I was really looking forward to play this game. The images and gameplay footage posted in the internet looked really promising. Some people were even saying that Soul Sacrifice was gonna save the Vita, so I pre-ordered the game (which was coming with two extra costumes and a set of three unique weapons (offerings)). The day arrived and I took my Vita, which had been quite inactive lately and started playing.

The presentation is beyond awesome, and it's possibly one of the strongest points of this game. Librom is a peculiar and unforgettable character, and its pages are so beautifully crafted... The first hour of gameplay was great. But then, I won´t lie, I realized that the game could suffer from being repetitive. Surprisingly, after having played more than 30 hours, I have come to the conclusion that the multiplayer and offerings (weapons) system keep you totally addicted.

The game mechanic is pretty simple: You are given missions to complete in a specific closed scenario. These missions can be, exploration pacts, extermination pacts, phantom missions, slaughter pacts or save pacts (sorry if I forgot some). At the end of each mission you receive rewards depending on your performance.
The scenarios are varied and beautifully crafted. Some scenarios are really small, others not so small and others are big, which adds the game certain strategic dynamism.
The archfiends are varied too and fighting them is really funny. Some battles are easy, others are can prove a challenge, and there are certain missions that seem to be impossible without other players aid (multiplayer).
It's undeniable that Soul Sacrificed has its similarities with Monster Hunter, but they are different in many areas, so don't expect a MH clon here.

The plot of the game is not spectacular, but as I mentioned, the presentation is so good that makes it immersive. The game counts with many 'chapters' and different stories to be read and completed.

The music is stunning, nothing to complain here. Plain awesome.

The graphics are good, but there are many textures which look like sh** for a console like the Vita. It seems to be a general problem, since many games suffer from blurry or plain shit** textures. I hope that in the future we'll see HQ games for the Vita in this aspect.

The multiplayer works GREAT and it's what will keep many players coming back to SS everyday.

All in all I would say that Soul Sacrifice can be compared to sex, it's really funny to have a session of 30 min to 1h 30h almost everyday, yet, let's be sincere, it's kinda over-hyped.
This is not a game for everybody, but if you like this kind of games check it out NOW!
