Goes a bit deeper than most figthing games.

User Rating: 9.2 | Soul Edge (PSOne Books) PS
Instead of stopping at character endings after a ladder fight, Soul Blade gives the player a story to fight through (even if the story is disjointed.) You can still fight through the regular ladder in the single player mode. So, the game doesn't leave you with a choice; it gives you that choice. Granted it doesn't go far enough into these "stories" to be classed as a platformer, but associating with the chaacters and the game's loose plot were greatly increased. As far as a fighting game, it all in there: High kick, low kick, special move, finishing move, nothing new under the sun. But the graphics were great for their time and the overall design never left me lacking. Another nice touch was there seemed to be a few different languages coming out of the characters depending on their background. Sould Blade is a game that can cater to the shorter attention spans of the fighting jenre as well as the gamer who wants a bit more depth.
