Fun by day, boring by night.

User Rating: 7 | Sonic Unleashed WII
The question you may be thinking is "Is this game good?"
The answer? Yes and no.
Sonic Unleashed is probably the best Sonic Wii game. But Sega, once again, tried doing something stupid; and that was trying to introduce a new idea. The new idea they tried was the "Werehog" idea, and that was a horrible idea. I'll explain to you why later on.

The game's plot isn't a bad one, but it does get repetitive. Basically the world has been broken up into pieces, and you need to beat all of the levels at various temples. It's a bit different from your basic Sonic plot, but like I said, it's not bad, just a tad bit repetitive.

The graphics? Great! They were detailed, colorful, clean, and all-around very pleasing. They definitely fill the potential of Wii graphics.
The sound? Pretty good, if you're playing the daytime levels. The sound is just repetitive in the night time levels. But overall the sound is pretty decent.

The gameplay of the daytime levels is fantastic. In the daytime levels, Sonic goes faster than he ever has before. You'll go at hyper speeds and have a blast. The daytime levels came to show that Sega is really close to giving Sonic the proper reboot. The only issue with the daytime levels is that there's simply not enough of them.

I will now explain the game's major issue. Like I said before, it's the dang "Werehog" plot. In the night time levels, Sonic is turned into a "Werehog" and you go around beating up enemies by constantly shaking the Wii remote. It's tedious, and it's just not Sonic! Playing as the Werehog can also be frustrating, and it's flat-out boring. What was going through Sega's mind when they made up the Werehog? I mean, seriously! It's just not Sonic! And also, there's too many dang Werehog levels!

Overall, this game is great while you're playing the daytime levels, but you're going to have to gag yourself through tons of Werehog levels. Sega came close, but they failed with the Werehog plot. Let's all hope that Sega will learn from this, and come back with a game that's as fun as the daytime levels.

Daytime levels rating: 9.0
Night Time levels rating: 4.0
