The first Sonic game ever. Is it good? HECK YES. But is getting all the Chaos Emeralds fun? Eh . . . great game, though.

Sonic the Hedgehog (or simply put: Sonic 1). The game that started it all. Sonic, at the time, was the fastest game mascot there was, and was worthy enough to be Mario's rival (today he's more towards slight mediocrity).

Okay, my reviews won't be as elaborate as usual that much anymore, so I'll just get down to the middy griddy:

Game play: 8/10
Fast game play. Speed, my friend, speed. The reason why this game was a success. It was fast and FUN, and it still is today. Maybe not as much as the other Sonic games of the early 1990's (like Sonic 2) but still a heap load of fun. Now, there are some flaws with being fast. Mostly, you can't go that fast for too long, due to stuff in the stages being in the way. You have to pay attention, or else you'll be bamboozled. But paying attention to stuff in front of you isn't very easy when you're running 200 mph, is it? Also, rings. Those bloody rings. You can't-freaking-keep-them . . . ! Just ONE collision with an enemy or spike will get rid of every ring you have. I HATE this. Almost every sonic game has this problem. It is SO annoying! You lose ALL your rings from one hit? Bull crap. That means your rings won't last very long, which means kiss good bye those useless Chaos Emeralds. Well, anyway, other than those annoyances, the game is great, and in a while you'll get use to it.

Pretty good. Nothing too elaborate to say here.

Graphics: 10/10
Colorful. Beautiful. Amazing. It may be hard to notice some of the beauty of the backgrounds when going really fast, though. But, surprisingly, you won't be going too fast too often in some stages.

Music: 9/10
Great music. Catchy, and memorable.

So, overall, this is a classic that every person that calls themselves a "gamer" has to play this game at least once.
